Creepy's unexpected vacation

Well, per doctors orders, I guess I’m officially now on vacation for at least the next 6-8 weeks, lol.

I'll spare you guys all the intimate details, but apparently, only sleeping 2-3 hours per night for months on end, and the stress and anxiety from running multiple businesses at once, can actually kill you, lol. Who would have thought? All summer, since my son has been on break, I've been spending all day with him, and working all night, so that doesn't leave much time to sleep, except from about 7am-9am everyday, lol. I haven’t been sick or anything, and other that the crazy insane pain of the kidney stones a while back, haven't been in any pain, but just haven't been feeling quite right.

So I started observing myself a little closer on my everyday activities, and started seeing a pattern. No sleep and high stress = not a clear brain for thinking with, and a brain that can't keep ones body healthy. So I did a little testing on myself, and it was very enlightening and entertaining at the same time, lol. I know it may sound funny, but I always keep a Rubik's cube close by, it’s just something to play with if I'm waiting around for something. I'm pretty fast at solving it normally, however, the other day I picked it up and I couldn't solve it at all, (because my brain couldn't remember how to do it). Now, keep in mind, I'd just solved it several times the day before, while racing my 9 year old son (who is pretty darn fast himself now, at about 90 sec.). He's actually faster than me now, lol.

Well, so this now was making me a little concerned, because I've never felt like that before. This lead to me calling a doctor buddy of mine, and I took him to lunch to express my concerns and ask his advice. So after some testing, he basically (in not so many words), told me I'll be dead soon if I don't stop living like I do, lol. Now normally, if a doctor told me such a thing, I'd just blow it off and be like “sure dude, whateverâ€, but when my doctor buddy (that I've known for over 25 years), says “as a friend first and a doctor second, I'm not kidding, you will die from this if you don't fix it right awayâ€. He said he had never see anyone survive as long as I have “burning the candle on both ends, and the middle at the same timeâ€, lol. So after a very long conversation, on how I should approach this concept of not trying to slowly kill myself anymore (literally, lol), we compromised with just taking a vacation for a bit, and see what happens from there. We both decided that meds were not the way to go, I refuse to go that route anyway. I’m only allowed to be in the shop working on other personal projects, not the businesses, lol. (I'm sure I'll cheat a little here and there though, lol)

So the big real question is: How does this effect you guys and ordering decals from me, etc...? Well, it doesn't really at all, everything will pretty much be normal, (orders will still ship right away just like always), except I won't be doing any big custom art projects for a while. I did bring in another part time designer to help finish up the custom stuff we've been working on already, and to do little quicky customs and alterations to existing stuff. You guys shouldn't really see any difference at all I hope. I'll still be doing most of the emails, etc...(although, give me a little more time to respond). There are a few other things that are changing at the shop, to help serve you guys better, but I’ll be posting that in the other thread.

So that's about it for now. I'll keep you guys updated as things progress, and hopefully everything will turn out awesome, lol.

And I'll have more time to hang out on here again now too.

BTW, what does one do on vacation? I've never really been on one before. I suppose I could try to build a ship inside a bottle or something, lol.

It's good that you noticed it before things got worse. Get better dude and just enjoy your time off. Go fishing, go camping, anything but work haha.

I'll do my best, lol.

My son and i have a big project planned that should be fun.

I'm not starting out so good though, it's almost 6am here, and I still haven't been to bed yet, lol.

I have a feeling I'm going to need your guy's help to keep me on track.

gobble Damn Dude. Go fishing or something. Go hike some nature trails in the Ho Rain Forest on the Olympic Peninsula. Take up surfing. Learn to relax a little, even if it means you have to sit down and meditate. But by all means, listen to your buddy, and change your lifestyle now, if only so you have more years to sepnd with your son.

I agree 100%.

I'm actually very excited, it sound like a whole new adventure in my life

I'm actually going to go hiking with my wife later today. (well after I go to sleep and then wake up i guess, lol. Sleep, what a concept.)

The really funny thing about me not sleeping, is that I don't use any stimulants. i don't drink coffee or energy drinks of any kind. It's strange how i can just stay up for days with nothing.

I did that for years, in college and a couple of years after, going day to day on 3-4 hours of sleep. I admit, I had my fair share of Mountain Dew, but I doubt that was keeping me going. I just had stuff to do. It would catch up to me about once every six weeks or so, though. Go out for some drinks or have a few beers at home, head off to sleep and not know what day it was when I woke up 12-15 hours later. It takes a toll. I'm much more aware of when I need to de-stress these days, and sometimes I spend my lunch break chilling in a park near work instead of rushing to get lunch, run errands, etc. I'll tell you what: exercise helps more than I would have ever thought. But just learning how to turn your brain off and meditate works wonders too. Not like cross legged, New Age chanting trance crap (unless that works for you), just letting your mind drift off...does me wonders.

I would start off by setting my alarm to go to bed at 11pm and then not leaving your bed til at the earliest 6 am. Even if you wake up just lay there and relax. Do something like that for your vacation and then if you have to cut it back to midnight and 6am. But anything less than that is unsustainable.

I can't help but to think about that damn Tim McGraw song "Live Like You Were Dying." An old friend had that as a ring tone and I wanted to Ray Rice him in the face after a few days of hearing it.

Seriously though, get better man. Ever since I started my new job, my entire life feels exponentially better. I hope everything goes calm, smooth, and amazing for you over the vacation.

It's funny, I already feel way better, and it's only day one.

I think, just from feeling like I don't have to go to work, if I don't want to for once.

I think i can get used to this, lol.

And yes Macland, that was my plan as well. I have a ton of alarms set in my phone already, I'll just add those in there as well.

I'll also have time now, to get back on working out 6 days a week again. I'm always way happier when I'm doing P90X. I just got the new P90X-3. (it's awesome!)

No, don't feel bad at all. Actually, you are helping me.

Part of my stress level was: I was getting so far behind all the time, (having so many custom artwork orders going at once), I started to loose track of some. So this was good timing actually, because it will enable me to check another one off my list, (and in turn, lowering my anxiety level just a little bit more, lol).

So, Thank you actually.

Creepy, definitely take the time off and take it easy. Sometimes you gotta put yourself and your health first.

I did want to say thank you for sponsoring WENT, I won the raffle for a Graveyard Graphics pack not once but twice, and theres some pretty cool stuff in there.
