I started using CLP to take off the excess, but it took FOREVER, so I just started lightly dabbing a cloth in nail polish remover and LIGHTLY wiping across everything. That was WAY better.

Overall, I'm VERY satisfied with the look, especially the green on my XD. I was so excited to get home and work on it and even happier when it came out better than I thought it would. I will definitely be doing the green on my AR when parts start coming in.

I use crayons to color in my lettering on my pistols and works great and stays on there for quite a long time and if ya ever need to touch it up just grab it again and go over it. Take just a couple of minutes.

i now see where the springfield comes from. the paints looks good though nis. nice work.

Eh, they're an odd one, the XD is a joint venture between a citation company, and Springfield armory which, is in Illinois. I honestly don't recall how it all balances out, as far as where they're built etc.

Great idea, I'm tempted to do this...just haven't decided if I want any color on my all black pistol...

out of curiosity, what's he charging to install the nightsights?

for a 24hour turnaround 25 bucks. all the shops around here wanted to charge me 100... which i thought was just stupid, but they said something about having to cut the XD because of this and that. i hadn't read about that in any other sight.

so i have one of my sliders duracoated, i was wondering if i color filled over the duracoat and used non acetone to clean it up, would it strip my duracoat? i've read that duracoat basically can handle anything and is probably strong enough not to be effected by the np remover but was just making sure.

Should be safe...Don't quote me on that though...

so what your saying is i shouldn't do it lol. non acetone is what i would be using.

He's saying don't use acetone, correct, I would just take some acrylic paints from your friendly local gaming store, aka nerdshop where they sell stuff like warhammer40k, get the color you want, and then just do a wash...mix 3 parts water to 1 part paint, in a tiny amount, and use a 20/0 or 10/0 brush and just wash in the color slowly and patiently. Let it fully dry between layers, and when it's filled in, take a q-tip with a little water and clean off any excess. You're done!

it works hyde, the only thing is that the duracoat is a little thick so it take some time to get the color to stay in the grooves but yes it worked.

Or you could just take a lighter and Crayola Crayons. Heat the metal and rub crayon over the stamped design.

It's been about a year and it still looks good.
