04 4x4 xe automatic High pitched noise, sounds like Chewbacca is under my hood (or like the old rusty gate swinging open at my grandma's house). Here's a video link:

It does this whether I'm moving or stationary, turning or traveling straight, rpms don't really seem to do anything predictable. Sometimes accelerating from dead stop makes it go away briefly but other times it just gets louder. I've got power steering fluid in the reservoir, could maybe use a bit more but I wouldn't say I'm low or anything. It does seem to be a lot quieter after driving for about 30 minutes, but it moaned the entire time I was driving to work and back (heard when going slowly and parking). Thanks!

Sounds like a bad belt tensioner.
Thanks, that's what I was hoping but I've only ever heard one bad tensioner before (on my old Silverado) and the sound was different, more grindy so I was hoping for opinions before I pulled it apart. REALLY appreciate it! I will post results when I figure it out. Other thoughts welcome as well

You should be able to get the tension off the tensioner and feel it for play. Should feel tight but spin without making noise.

There's a write up somewhere for this...
