Painting skidz with anything other than a protective paint is sort of a waste of time and effort, as, if you needed them in the first place...the decorative aspect will be trashed anyway.

Most people who actually use the skids need to be able to rattle can blast the last time's out results to prevent rust, and that's about it.

I remember one guy painted his skids blue and I'd be out on the trail, and find blue streaks on rocks, etc, and know where he'd been. I found a part of a broken blue tow hook, and knew it was his, etc.

The end result was it was too hard to keep touching up and ends up looking like crap after a while.

On the flip side, if you flip over so people can SEE the skids, at least they can be better appreciated, even if you needed a roll cage more than skidz at that point.

:D

I was thinking about just painting over the protective painting haha. It's already painted, I'm not sure how good it is, I'll have to see in person. I guess I'll just play it by ear haha

I picked up some lime green paint for the skids. This should be interesting... haha.

I also saw another lifted Xterra on the way and a sweet International Scout that I snapped a photo of..

Haha! After closely inspecting the face down side (and especially after sanding) you can tell he put them to some use. Mostly just on the one closest to the camera. The other 2 are practically new. Very minimal rust on all of them. I'm happy!

Even happier about this...

Needing one more can of paint to finish the skids, I went to Lowe's to pick up the paint. While looking for a parking spot, I saw this bad@$$ Jeep I had to park beside..

I believe it was a little taller but no whole lot.. The extra *rack and full size spare kinda helps too ;)

But if you look at the rear diffs they're really close to the same and I believe he had about 35.5 inch tires. So that's another inch or so of SL he's got me on just in tires.

I meant the X but looks like a awesome garage, is it a shop?

I figured you did mean the X haha. But yeah, I believe it was more of a machine shop.. Lots of heavy, HEAVY equipment. There were tires there bigger than my X and there was a leaf pack composed of about 20 something leafs, it was about a foot and a half tall and about 2 feet wide.. It was crazy!

I'm thinking that Jeep probably looked a lot more bad@$$ before the Xterra was parked beside it. :kewl:

Got inspired to swap out the PRND21 back light bulb to an LED I had leftover from the dome light swap. By taking it apart, I was able to clean everything which was greatly needed! haha

Also.. it led me to another mod coming soon.. (need some supplies ;)) Anybody guess what it is?? It involves this piece...
