17" versus 18" wheels

Wondering if any members have pictures to post of their after-market wheel upgrades to either 17" or 18"? With the recent acquisition of 07 X, I had to replace the crappy desert hawk tires on it ASAP, and not knowing when I would be able to fund new wheels and suspension upgrades, I purchased a set of Cooper ATW's 265/70R17's (31.7") on sale. While I am actually extremely happy with these tires so far, I am really kicking myself for not perhaps waiting until I could get myself into an 18" wheel and tire. The wheel I want can be purchased in both 17" and 18". My conundrum really is just wondering if the esthetic difference between the two will really make that big of difference in appearance. I don't really plan on exceeding 33" in diameter. Any way you slice it, new wheels are substantial coin, but another set of tires too, just to gain an inch, might well let's say... displease my accountant. Just thinking some pictures would help me decide... Thx!

What is your intention for the truck??? for off pavement driving neither will give you any sidewall to play with when you air down. for that size wheel you are looking at a 35-37 inch tire to work well in the dirt.
If the intended use is pavement only then you have very different questions that you have to ask yourself. What you really want, road conditions where you live. how rough of a ride and how many sidewalls you are willing to rip to have the sidewall that you want.

Yeah. If you go to 18s you need at least 35s to air down effectively due to the reduced side wall. So it really depends on what you are doing with the truck.

Thank you, excellent feedback and info to consider. Primarily a d/d pavement queen, with weekend trips to the cabin, mountain dirt trails, logging roads, lots of rain and mud here etc... and some really snotty winter weather in the mountain passes, but no real rock crawling or serious 4x4'ng. with regards to tires the largest I will be considering is a 275/70R18

Those are sic... I really, really like those
I didn't realize it would be sooo hard to find our bolt pattern in aftermarket wheels (especially 17") Everything I like is a no go, Motiv fat five, Mamba M13, something along that vein of fat spokes
Those Mk6's are sweet, I def would not see anyone with those up here

Here's 295/70r17s on my 17x8 Level 8 MK6s. Plenty of sidewall imo but they're a bit bigger than the 285/70r17s other people usually get.
