Merry Christmas w/32s!!

So I chickened out on the 33s...more of a money saving move than anything. Still my DD (so gas mileage is a factor), 32s were cheaper by quite a bit, and also didn't feel like chopping up my X (yet).

But overall I love the new wheels and tires! 32x11.5r15 BFG KO2s wrapped around 15" Cragar Soft 8s w/4.75 BS. They ride great, quiet, and look mean for an AT tire! Can't wait to test them out offroad.

Those look great man! Nice job! I had the same internal debate...33x12.50 or 32.11.50. I ended up compromising with a 33x10.50. The all terrains really do look pretty sweet!

I like the KO2 although you shoulda gone with 33s and the KM2s.

I agree bigger is better! Lol but I went with an AT instead of an MT since it's my DD, I drive to the snow quite often, and well...MTs don't do the best on icy roads :erm:

As for the 32s in stead of 33s, just didn't want to do a BL or fender cuts yet. Eventually I want to do a SAS and will probably go to 35s; then I can regear, get a new DD, and not worry about gas mileage like I would w/33s now. Until then I decided to keep her a mean, "stock-ish" looking DD

Bad News / Good News

BAD

For a about a month now I've been having a ticking noise coming from my engine upon start up that's gotten progressively louder. I'd been checking my oil, gauges, and a few other things and all seemed normal so I didn't worry much about it. Couple days ago I checked my dipstick again and the oil level was on L. S***.

After looking closer around my engine bay I found this spot covered in oil. I'm hoping that the valve cover itself has come loose or the valve cover gasket has gone bad, those would be the cheapest fix. Praying that its not the head gasket leaking.

Then found more evidence of leakage... This is above the lower control arm.

I've put another quart of oil in her and will only be driving to Big O. There I'll be getting an oil change (needed one anyways) and a second opinion on the issue. After that I'll clean up the leak spots, tighten down the valve cover, and watch my oil level and for more leaks. FUN.

A Jeep buddy of mine also suggested trying this oil additive after the oil change. For $6 I figured, why not!

GOOD!

Got my LED Pod Lights from http://olympusoffroad.3dcartstores.com

They seem good quality and will be replacing my factory fogs in the bumper. Only complaint I have is the customer service...in their defense they are a fairly new company and I ordered during the holidays, but it is something to be aware of.

That oil seepage is VERY common on the 1st gen. Passenger valve cover is cake to do, but you're in for a battle if you want to do the driver side.

You could also try some good ol' Seafoam in the crankcase right before the oil change

I'd like to be revving the engine as little as possible now that I know there's a leak. Oil's still pretty low and I'm nervous just getting her to Big O. Maybe I'm being too cautious but I'd rather do that than break something else.
Once everything's tightened down and sealed back up Seamfoam is definitely on the list of to do's :kewl:

Good to know its cake, mine looks similar to his. Is there a good walk through thread of it here?

Quick Update!

Seems that the valve cover had just come loose; tightened it down and have been holding oil ever since. Went and got an oil change the other day and now running smooth, obviously still keeping an eye on it.

Some Pics for Fun
Somehow I've never gotten to park by a stock X until now...little height difference with the 3" SL and 32s

LED Pod Lights!

Finally got these pod lights installed and wired on my RCL bumper!

*Note: Never buy from http://olympusoffroad.3dcartstores.com. Their customer is awful and have still yet to return my emails or calls about the wiring harness I paid for and was never sent.

Bright side (pun intended)! They are decently bright and seem to be pretty good quality. I also had to do my own wiring, which wasn't all bad as I got to learn more about electrical work (I'm terrible at it). Hopefully getting a 20" light bar for the bumper as well or putting the 40" back on the roof. Still haven't decided what I like best; 40" is still currently for sale.

Home from college and got some "house (car) keeping" done. Restored my headlights with a kit from Meguiar's and holy crap...it's like having new headlights! I'll never use anything else again. If your headlights are clouded and gross I highly recommend giving this a try.
Link on Amazon:
Also, replaced the stock baby horn with an FIAMM Freeway Blaster. Install was easy and the thing is LOUD.
Link on Amazon:
Hopefully getting some more lights wired up soon, waiting on switches from OTRATTW. Then rock sliders should be next on the "to do" list that ever seems to end. So many things to buy...not enough $$$. Stay tuned!

I think we both have that funky 04 green paint on our trucks! I like it. I decided to go with the 32" tires because of this thread, thanks! I like what your doing here.

Mines actually brown! I think the technical color is 'granite' lol. It does look kind of green in the pictures above though. If you go back a few pages you can see the brown better.

But thanks for the compliment! 3" SL with 32s is a great looking combo IMO.
