Hmmm. I need to see about getting a better price. Car repairs in this area are expensive, but shouldn't be that much higher.
When I had a quote to get it done it was like $450 but my brother ended up doing it for free. Sometimes you just have to call around to get the best prices.

First Fill-Up (of many)
Saw the aftermath of a fatal semi accident on the road today. I know the driver didn't make it because the dash was where the driver seat is suppose to be.

I hate it when that happens. I used to be an EMT and my cohorts were always surprised at the wrecks people survived. And didn't . Semi has so much weight that it'll squash pretty much anything that gets in its way.

Thing is I can't let crap like that bother me, otherwise I wouldn't be able to keep getting behind the wheel of my own rig. Not the first I've seen, won't be the last.

I cant believe how little you guys all get charged for the timing belt job. Parts and labor up here were pushing near 2G. I did it myself and parts alone were $400 and I have a good work account at the parts place.

I've never understood why tires of a larger wheel diameter are more expensive. A 35x12.5x15 and a 35x12.5x17 are the same overall size. However there's less sidewall on the 17 due to the larger wheel size. So it requires less material to manufacture. But, it's often times 20-30% MORE expensive. I don't understand.

If I could run 15s I would. Every day.

offset the cost of making an uncommon size tire based on current manufacturing hoot-n-nanny magic is my guess.

I call bullshiat on that. I'd be willing to venture that if anything, 15s are more rare now. Just take Heeps for example. They're all 17" wheels from the factory.
well i think thats because brakes are getting bigger on cars and trucks now. hell the brakes on my f150 are damn near the same size as a super duty.
but as for tire pricing...

The larger wheel has less sidewall, yes, but has to hold the same weight. To do that, the sidewall has to either be thicker or have have more reinforcement. Thicker sidewall would lead to more rubber overall or a different formulation of rubber. More reinforcement leads to more steel.

This. I used to use 15” take off tires for my VWs. The flippers. Harder and harder to find.
