I never got straight answer on whether or not I could re-use the stock but everybody recommended replacing them. I went with Ac kit also. They're huge out of the box. I just cut them flush after putting the pack back together

Here's a perfectly straight answer. No. Never reuse U-bolts. Any time you break the tension on them, replace them. They are stretched by the nuts when you torque them down. Once you break them loose, they can't achieve the same level of holding power.

That being said, if you remove the overload leaf you can get new ones from the dealer and they work great. No cutting.

Overload leaf?

The very bottom leaf in the pack. It's about 1.5" thick and about two feet long. Sticks straight out in front and behind the axle.

The purpose is to keep the leaf pack from inverting under heavy load /flex. Imo, useless and should be removed. There isn't enough articulation in the rear to ever have that happen.

Okay, I will definitely look into that. But does anyone have experience with the PRG AAL kit? Does it augment the factory leaf pack? How hard is it to install?

I believe PRG sells with U-bolts if not they have them on their site.

what do you mean augment the factory pack? I pulled the over load leaf when I installed mine. The add-a-leaf stiffens the pack enough to pull it. Not to mention if you off-road, the thing is road grater and gets hung on everything.

As far as installing it, Its not bad at all, me and buddy had it and the revolvers done in couple hours.

Ill try and get you picture of mine and where the aal is in the pack

Augmenting the factory pack means adding to the factory leaf setup. This is what AAL kits do. Alternative to replace the entire leaf pack.

Another point to bring up is the revolvers won't lift the truck 1.75-2 inches. Instead your gonna get about .75 inches from the revolvers.the 2nd gen deavers and revovlers got me about 2.25- 2.50 inches in the rear

Whait, what? You can use gen2 X Revolvers on a gen1? And it gives you a tad more lift in the rear?

Again thank you for everyone's ones input on this topic. The wife mentioned last night about putting just shock on the X and getting a 2nd Gen, hmmmmm....

You do not need shims. However. I'd still do shackles instead of trying to get all your lift from leafs. The longer shackles will increase your possible articulation in the rear by extending the swing point of the leaf pack.
